Refers to hardwood construction. Boards made from engineered hardwood are created using a number of planks in a cross-ply construction. When the planks are installed, the top layer reveals the color and wood species.

The flooring company decided to use engineered hardwood because it is dimensionally more stable than solid hardwood.
