Quartz, also a natural stone, is another beautiful choice for a kitchen. Quartz is an abundant stone, and also comes in many different colors. Quartz is quite stunning in a kitchen, however, it is a softer stone, and is not porous, so keep in mind that it is not scratch resistant. It is also not as resistant to heat as granite or some other natural stones.
Soapstone Counters
Soapstone is another beautiful, natural stone. Soapstone is very durable and looks lovely in a kitchen. Soapstone is great overall a great choice, but the color selection is limited.
Corian Counters
Corian has been a common choice for kitchen countertops for many years now. Corian is not a stone, but rather it is made of acrylic. Corian is very easy to maintain and is available in many different colors. Corian is durable in that it is burn and scratch resistant. The main drawback to Corian is the cost.
Laminate Counters
Laminate is a very affordable choice in kitchen countertops. Laminate comes in a multitude of colors. Downfalls to a laminate countertop are the scratches and chips you are likely to experience. Unfortunately, laminate countertops are not easily repaired.
Stainless Steel Counters
Stainless steel is a growing trend in kitchen countertops. Stainless steel is an attractive option, and is also very sanitary and stain resistant. One of the drawbacks to choosing a stainless steel countertop is the price tag. Also, keep in mind that with stainless steel, there are not many other colors or design options available.
